General Info

If you're craving a hearty, flavorful meal in the heart of Seoul, look no further than Wondang Gamja-Tang. Located at 22 Myeongdong 7ga-gil in the Jung District, this cozy and inviting restaurant specializes in the iconic Korean dish, gamjatang, or pork back-bone stew. Known for its rich, savory broth and tender pork, Wondang Gamja-Tang offers a taste of comfort food that will leave you feeling satisfied and content.

The star of the menu is, of course, the gamjatang, a traditional Korean stew made with pork bones, potatoes, and a variety of seasonings. At Wondang, they take this dish to the next level with perfectly cooked, tender meat that falls off the bone, paired with a flavorful broth that has just the right amount of spice. The soup is served bubbling hot, perfect for a chilly day or whenever you're craving something warm and filling.

In addition to their signature gamjatang, the restaurant also offers other delicious dishes. If you're in the mood for something a little different, try their "カムジャタン" (gamjatang) or indulge in the "ขาหมูและหมูสามชั้น" (braised pig's feet and pork belly). For a more refreshing option, their "蔥餅" (scallion pancakes) are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, a perfect side to balance the rich flavors of the stew. The "拌飯" (bibimbap) is another fan-favorite, with a mix of rice, vegetables, and savory meats, all topped with a perfectly fried egg. And, of course, no meal is complete without a serving of "カルビ" (galbi), tender grilled ribs that complement the other dishes perfectly.

Wondang Gamja-Tang isn't just about great food - they also provide a warm, welcoming environment for all guests. The restaurant identifies as women-owned, which adds a personal touch to the dining experience. It's wheelchair accessible, making it easy for everyone to enjoy a meal here. Whether you're dining solo, with a small group, or as part of a larger gathering, you'll feel comfortable and well taken care of. The restaurant offers breakfast, making it a great spot to start your day with a filling meal. Plus, they accept debit cards, making it convenient for customers to pay.

With its fantastic location in Seoul, great food, and friendly atmosphere, Wondang Gamja-Tang is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Korean comfort food. Whether you're a local or a tourist, this restaurant should be on your list for a delicious and satisfying meal.

What customers say?

“ Looking for Gamjatang (Korean Pork Bone Soup), look no further. The gamjatang here is flavorful and delicious. We also ordered a Korean pancake and spicy pork stir fry which was both amazing. The only thing was that the waiter was a bit pushy in making us order more. Other than that a great place to eat. ”

“ We ordered bone soup and tofu soup with bibimbap. The taste and flavor was good and I love the side dish so much. Definitely will come back again ”

“ We visited this place twice during our Seoul visit. Once when we first arrived, and second on our last night. Both times were good. Staff were nice. Food was good. We tried the different hangover soup offered. Portions were generous, taste was satisfying. You can refill your side dishes by yourself. We had a little trouble ordering on our second visit as the electronic screen was not working well, so the staff brought us an English menu. Tip: You can ask the staff to change the language on the electronic ordering system to English if you are unable to read Korean. ”

“ Myeongdong Pork Backbone Pot – Convenient and Tasty Right in the same building as our hotel in Myeongdong—super handy for a hearty meal after exploring. Ordered the pork backbone pot (gamjatang) and ginseng chicken soup (samgyetang) with rice. Both were delicious: rich, spicy broth with fall-off-the-bone pork and potatoes in the gamjatang, while the chicken was surprisingly juicy and tender—not dry or tough at all, which is rare for boiled chicken. Generous portions, fresh sides, and friendly service. Solid, comforting spot I’d happily revisit when staying nearby. ”

“ It’s awesome find.... was hungry close to midnight and hoping to find a 24hr eatery at Myeongdong. Had the bone soup and ginseng chicken soup, and I wasn’t disappointed. The people are friendly and the food simply heavenly. ”

“ Flavorful soup and not too expensive as well. Especially within a touristy place like this, it is hard to find good places to eat and so if you are in the area and looking for a soup to warm you up during winter you should give this place a visit ”

“ The pork bone and potato pot is quite good. It is very Korean style and flavor. It makes you warm after the meal, which is very suitable for the winter. The bibimbap is also tasty. A very recommendable restaurant. ”

“ I was looking for a place in Myeongdong that was open after 10 p.m. and came across this restaurant. The first floor was crowded, so we were seated on the second floor. We ordered a small gamjatang (pork bone potato stew), pork backbone soup, and chapagetti. It was my first time trying gamjatang, and the potatoes were a bit firm and didn’t absorb much flavor—I wonder if that’s how it’s supposed to be. I had imagined soft, well-seasoned potatoes like in nikujaga (Japanese meat and potato stew), so it was a bit surprising. The soup was spicy, and the meat was tender and delicious. Gamjatang and the pork backbone soup were quite similar, so in hindsight, I should have ordered something different. Haha ”
